December 9, 2022: The lab holds its annual holiday party and gift exchange.

December 2-6, 2022: Laura and Tara attend the American Society for Cell Biology meeting in Washington DC and present a poster in the Microtubule Dynamics session. It was the first in-person conference since the pandemic. We had a great time connecting with fellow cell biologists in person and look forward to future conferences next year.

October 28, 2022: Congratulations to lab alumni and former postdoc, Paula Slater, who starts next month as an Assistant Professor at Universidad San Sebastián in Santiago, Chile!

March 22, 2022: We are pleased to announce that our new lab manager, Gavin Slattery, will be joining the lab next month. He will start part-time in April to learn the job while he finishes his undergraduate education at Tufts University and he will transition to full-time in June. March 9, 2022: Micaela's first author paper, "16p12.1 deletion orthologs are expressed in motile neural crest cells and are important for regulating craniofacial development in Xenopus laevis," was accepted to Frontiers in Genetics! Congratulations, former grad student Micaela Lasser, as well as former undergraduates Jessica Bolduc, Luke Murphy, and Caroline O'Brien, for your great work and accomplishment as co-authors on this publication. December 14, 2021: Congratulations to our amazing lab manager, Mackenzie Hulme, for getting into medical school! We are so happy for you but of course will be sad to see you go next summer.

November 19, 2021: We receive news from our NIH Program Officer that the NIH has approved our R01 grant application on cytoskeletal dynamics and axon guidance for funding! This will fund our lab ($1.25 million for our lab, $900,000 for BMC) for the next 5 years! We are thrilled for this opportunity.

November 8, 2021: The lab welcomes BU undergrad Mina Nguyen!

November 6, 2021: The Lowery Lab holds its annual lab retreat. We discuss this past year's accomplishments, set goals for next year, and have team building activities. Mackenzie, Sarah, and Rachael were successful in creating the largest 18 minute spaghetti-marshmallow tower that the lab has ever seen, in the many years of this event. October 29, 2021: Laura Lowery is awarded a one-year $150,000 grant from the Ellison Foundation for our new cancer project in the lab, "Reducing the severity of melanoma." The lab is grateful to the Ellison Foundation for their generous support of our work!
