August 17, 2016: Our lab's third independent research paper, "TACC2 is a microtubule plus-end tracking protein that can promote microtubule polymerization during embryonic development" was just accepted to Molecular Biology of the Cell. Congrats to undergrads Leslie and Erin for spearheading this project, along with Patrick, Ali and Jackson for their essential hard work! And thanks to all the other undergrads and our lab manager Aleks for supporting these studies.

June 21, 2016: We receive news that our collaborator, Santosh Girirajan from Penn State, has received a 4th percentile on our R01 application!  Looks like we are going to have more research funds to work on how genes associated with various intellectual disabilities may impact brain development!

June 13, 2016: We welcome Sangmook Lee as the lab's first Senior Research Associate!

June 8, 2016: We received word from the NSF that the NSF MRI grant, of which Laura Anne was one of the lead PI's, is being recommended for funding.  It looks like BC will be acquiring a super resolution microscope!

May 22, 2016: We receive word that the American Cancer Society will be funding our research, on the role of TACC proteins in cell motility!

April 20, 2016:  Our undergrad seniors have all decided where they will be next year!  Patrick will be attending medical school at the University of Pittsburgh; Erin will be attending graduate school at EMBL in Rome; Andrew will be attending graduate school at the Brain and Cognitive Science Department at MIT; Leslie will be volunteering for a year at Amate House while applying to medical school.  Congrats to all for your fantastic accomplishments!

April 15-17, 2016: The lab attends the North East Regional Meeting for the Society of Developmental Biology.  Laura Anne was the co-organizer this year.  Beth, Burcu, Garrett, Leslie, Erin, and Jackson all presented posters.  Congrats to Leslie and Erin for receiving undergraduate poster awards!

March 7, 2016: Laura Anne, together with Physics Professor, Ken Burch, have received an NSF award to fund their "Research Experience for Undergraduates" Integrated Scienced program, to be held at BC during the summers of 2017-2019.

January 29, 2016: Our collaborator's paper, "Conserved roles for cytoskeletal components in determining laterality", was just accepted to Integrative Biology. Congrats to Garrett for working with our post-doc affiliate, Gary McDowell (post-doc in the Mike Levin's lab at Tufts), to do the microtubule dynamics assays for the paper, and thanks to both Mike and Gary for inviting us to be a participant in this interesting story.

November 13, 2015:  Our very own Beth Bearce was highlighted in a Boston College promotional video produced by the Office of News and Public Affairs.  The video is titled "Ever to Excel: The Power of Resilience".  Watch it here!  My favorite parts are: 1:05-1:14, 1:36-1:44 (especially 1:40), 2:08-2:18 (note Beth's dramatic blinking), 2:45-2:50, 3:22-3:24, 3:51-3:55.

November 3, 2015: The Lowery Lab is excited to find out that we received a 3.0 percentile score on our R01 application.  It looks like we will be receiving our first R01 in 2016, from the National Institute of Mental Health!

May 29, 2015: We say a bittersweet farewell to our fantastic Research Project Manager, Belinda.  We wish her all the best as she heads off to medical school at St. George University in Grenada.
